Ceolwulf (not played yet)
An Aenglish warrior, and the seventh son of Aedbugh, landed thegn to the Eorl Tondhere of House Sighard. As a seventh son, Ceolwulf has no actual land himself. He is a sworn knight, working up to earn a thegnship, and will soon ride circuit in the shire, aiding the eorl's brothers as needed.

Munlaith (semi-PC)
A Pechtish warrior, third child of Caelfind the Half-Scott, and Gnith, a Pechtich champion. The elder brother and boss of Talorc.

Talorc
A Pechtish warrior, fifth child of Caelfind the Half-Scott, and Gnith, a Pechtich champion. A family of half-Pechts has trouble fitting in, and so Talorc and his brothers Munlaith and Drustan venture south with a few like-minded men, looking for mercenary work.

Torhalm (semi-PC)
An Aenglish knight but not yet a thegn, a half-brother to the Eorl Tondhere of House Sighard. Torhalm must ride circuit in the shire, checking that all is well and reminding the ceorls of the eorl's authority.

Wilfrid
An Aenglish noble in name only, the stepson of the Eorl Tondhere of House Sighard. Wilfrid came along free with the Erol's marriage to his wife Eanflid. Wilfrid is sixteen, and it's high time for his practical training as a squire. He's just been assigned to attend his uncle Torhalm.

Semi-PCs

We had to begin the game with only two players, and their characters were not of the same culture, so they had yet to meet. The solution was to let each player run two characters; a main character and a temporary "semi-PC."

Wilfrid's player also played Talorc's boss Munlaith. Talorc's character also played Wilfrid's boss Torhalm.

This allowed me to swap the scene from one party to the other, as they drew steadily closer, while allowing the players to torture each other very effectively.
